Only as far as I seek

Only as deep as I look
 can I see;
Only as much as I dream

 About Me

 I have a passion for teaching my students about chemistry, about the world around us, and about life in itself.  I want them to understand that real life learning does not fit in the four walls of my classroom.  It extends beyond that.  The lessons they can learn and take with them are immeasurable.  We can all definitely learn from each other.  If I can make a difference in their lives, I have done my job.
     I grew up in a third world country, the Philippines, where at a young age, I was exposed to poverty.  The challenges and obstacles I faced inspired me to work harder, go after my dreams, and realize that the only hindrance to success is giving up.  I love sharing this part of my life with my students because I want them to see that hard work does pay off.
     I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and went on to get my Doctorate degree in Medicine in one of the top medical schools in Manila.  I worked as an Emergency Room Physician until I migrated to the U. S. in 2001.  While working at UCLA Endocrinology Department as a research coordinator and pursuing my medical career, life took a turn.  I met my husband, started my family and decided to go into teaching.  It has been one of the biggest and best decisions I have ever made in my life.

             Teaching begins at home.

I have a wonderful daughter who loves learning.  She has  a love for science. We spend time doing hands-on learning, doing experiments together!  I do a lot of hands-on learning experience with my students.  I always tell them that one cannot learn from simply watching someone do it.  They have to actually do it themselves to say that, "yes, I do get it now."  Hard work, self determination, and dedication are the keys to one's success.   I have set a high standard for myself  to ensure that I change the course of my life.  Already, my daughter has followed into that footstep of hard work as she has been in the Principal Honor Roll since Kinder.  She has excelled in swim and dance, and appreciates the values that her dad and I  instill in her.  I set the same standard for my students.  My goal is to help them be who they want to be and excel in their field, one they can be proud of.
"With God, nothing is impossible."
